Saw palmetto side effects

Precautions:

Because saw palmetto works much like finasteride, logic dictates that whatever warnings are applicable to the drug should apply to the herb as well. But according to comparative clinical studies, saw palmetto is remarkably free of such side effects and consequences. Only a few men taking the herb have complained about a decline in sexual function or libido. Some sensitive people might experience a little gastric upset.

The research is contradictory on whether the herb affects levels of a marker called prostate-specific antigen (PSA), which is used to gauge the risk of later developing prostate cancer. Finasteride reduces PSA levels. Some studies say that saw palmetto does, too; other studies say that it does not.

As for the red flag that women who want to bear a child shouldn't touch the pharmaceutical, no evidence comes close to indicating that they shouldn't touch saw palmetto berries.
