What Pleurisy root herb Is:

Indigenous to Canada and the United States, this perennial herb's bright orange flowers, which bloom in the middle of summer, are a big attraction to butterflies, giving rise to another of its common names, butterfly weed. The more medicinally oriented name stems from its use among Native Americans to relieve serious respiratory problems, including pneumonia and the nasty lung inflammation known as pleurisy. Unlike other members of the milkweed family, the plant doesn't bleed a milklike sap. It does, however, grow pods filled with silk-tailed seeds.
