What Oregon grape Is:

A strange, attractive evergreen planted as an ornamental, Oregon grape (also known as mountain grape) is a hardy shrub indigenous to the western United States. It has a yellowish inner bark, yellowish flowers, and purple, grape-shaped edible fruit. This fruit, which is well-protected by sharp-toothed leaves that look like holly leaves, is sometimes used to make wine and brandy. Oregon grape shares many phytochemicals with goldenseal, goldthread, barberry, and yellowroot, even though not all are botanically related.
