What Chaparral herb Is:

This is one tough shrub, able to survive without water for quite some time in its native southwestern desert areas of the United States. When the rain arrives, it flourishes. Its small yellow flowers bloom, and its leaves weep a sticky resin that smells like creosote or tar. (That's why locals in the desert call it creosote bush.) In Mexico, It's called hediondilla, which translates as "little stinker."
