What Butcher's broom herb Is:

This low, woody, perennial evergreen, close to the lily family, grows throughout Europe, the northern part of Africa, and western Asia, but it's hardy enough to survive just about anywhere. From its stems sprout numerous short branches and even more stiff leaves—perfect material to be gathered together in broomlike fashion, hence the plant's name. The greenish white flowers give way to scarlet berries that are the size of small cherries. The whole herb, but particularly its rhizome, contains herbal medicine.
